This Privacy Policy describes how the AlBayan: Quran & Tafsir mobile application (the “App”) handles information. The App is operated by Muhammad Imran Ali (“we”, “our”).
Summary: AlBayan does not collect any personal information for itself or share data with third-party trackers, analytics services, or advertisers. Some of your data — bookmarks, reading progress, streaks, and badges — is synced across your devices using Apple’s iCloud (CloudKit) under your own iCloud account; that data goes only to your private iCloud, not to us, and we cannot access it.
The following data is stored only on your device, using Apple’s standard UserDefaults and the local file system. This data is never transmitted to us:
You can erase this data at any time by deleting the App from your device.
To make your experience seamless across iPhone and iPad, the App uses Apple’s CloudKit framework to sync the following data through your personal iCloud account, in your private CloudKit database:
Important things to know about iCloud sync:
If you enable prayer-time features, the App may request access to your device’s current location (When In Use). Location is used solely on your device to calculate accurate prayer times based on your geographical position. Your location is never transmitted to us, never stored on any server, and never shared with any third party. You can revoke location access at any time in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services.
The App streams Qur’an recitation audio from public third-party content delivery networks:
When the App requests audio from these services, the host may receive standard HTTP request information (your IP address and a generic User-Agent string), as is the case with any web request. We do not control the privacy practices of these third parties; please consult their respective terms.
Premium features are sold via Apple’s in-app purchase system (StoreKit). All payment information is handled by Apple under the Apple Privacy Policy. We do not receive your payment details. We rely solely on the cryptographically signed entitlement information provided by StoreKit on your device to determine whether premium features should be unlocked.
The App uses Apple’s local notification framework
(UNUserNotificationCenter) to schedule reminders on your device.
We do not use push notifications, do not register a push token,
and do not send notifications from any server. All reminder notifications are
scheduled and delivered entirely on your device.
The App is suitable for all ages. Because the App does not collect any personal information from any user, it does not collect any personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us through any channel, please contact us so we can investigate.
Because we do not collect or store any personal data on our servers, there is no server-side data retention. On-device data described in Section 2 can be removed by deleting the App or clearing app data through iOS Settings › General › iPhone Storage. iCloud-synced data described in Section 3 lives in your iCloud account and persists there until you remove it; see Section 3 for the steps to disable sync or delete the data from iCloud.
Depending on your jurisdiction (including the GDPR in the EU/EEA, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA in California, and similar laws), you may have rights regarding your personal information. Because we do not collect or process any personal information ourselves, these rights typically have little to apply to in our case. The iCloud-synced data described in Section 3 is held in your own iCloud account under Apple’s data processing terms; for any rights regarding that data please refer to Apple’s privacy practices. If you have any concern, you may contact us at the address below.
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Effective” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the App after a change indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.
