Safina Privacy Policy

Safina ("the app," "we," "us") is an iOS app developed by MAHR Partners that teaches the basics of Shia Islam to children through short daily lessons. This policy explains, in plain language, what happens to your data when you use it.

The short version: Safina does not collect your data. There is no server, no account, no analytics, and no advertising in this app. Everything Safina knows about your family's use of the app stays on your device and, if you have iCloud enabled, in your own private iCloud account — never on our servers, because we don't have any.

What Safina stores, and where

Safina stores a small amount of information so the app can track a learner's progress:

The name typed into Settings (the "Sailor" field)
Lesson and exercise completion, quiz answers, streaks, and XP
Which islands/content have been unlocked via purchase
App preferences (reminder time, narration on/off)

This information is saved using Apple's on-device storage and, if iCloud is signed in on the device, synced through Apple's CloudKit to the user's own private iCloud database. It is:

Never transmitted to us. We do not operate a server, and the app makes no network requests to any Safina-owned or third-party backend.
Not accessible to us. Data in a user's private CloudKit database can only be read by that user's own devices signed into their own iCloud account — not by the app's developer.
Not shared with third parties, because it is never sent anywhere we control in the first place.

No accounts

Safina does not ask you to create an account, sign in, or provide an email address, and does not collect any information to build a profile of you or your child.

No analytics, no advertising, no tracking

Safina contains no third-party analytics SDKs, no advertising SDKs, and no tracking of any kind — inside the app or across other apps and websites. Nothing about your usage is measured, sold, or shared for advertising purposes.

Purchases

Safina offers one optional one-time purchase ("The Full Voyage") to unlock the full curriculum. Purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store; Safina never sees or stores your payment information. Apple's own privacy policy governs that transaction: apple.com/legal/privacy.

Children's privacy

Safina is designed for children and is listed in Apple's Kids Category. It is built to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and Apple's Kids Category requirements:

No personal information is collected, transmitted, or shared — from children or adults.
No behavioral advertising or third-party tracking of any kind.
A parental gate (a simple math challenge) stands between a child and the in-app purchase screen, and between a child and any link that would leave the app.
There is no in-app chat, messaging, or social feature of any kind.

Your control over your data

Because everything lives on your device and in your own iCloud, you are always in full control:

Delete progress: Settings → Reset (behind the same parental gate) erases all local and iCloud-synced progress for the app.
Delete everything: Deleting the app removes its on-device data; you can also delete Safina's data from iCloud via your device's Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.
There is no account to delete, because none was ever created.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, note it in the app's release notes.
