What is AlBayan?
AlBayan is a Qur'an reading and study app with three layers of AI-powered Sunni commentary on every verse — plain meaning, classical context, and scholarly reflection — paired with audio recitation from renowned reciters.
Is AlBayan free?
Yes. The app is free to download. A one-time in-app purchase unlocks premium tafsir features for lifetime access. There are no subscriptions and no recurring charges.
How do I restore a purchase on a new device?
Open the app, tap your profile icon, and choose Restore Purchases. Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID used to make the original purchase.
Can I use AlBayan offline?
Yes. The Qur'an text and tafsir commentary are bundled with the app and work fully offline. Audio recitation requires an internet connection the first time a verse is played; cached audio is then available offline.
Why does AlBayan ask for my location?
Location is used only on your device to calculate accurate prayer times for your area. Your location is never transmitted to us or any third party. You can revoke location permission at any time in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services.
Does AlBayan collect any personal data?
No. AlBayan does not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information. There are no accounts, no analytics, and no tracking. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Which reciters are available?
Mishary Rashid Alafasy, Abdurrahmaan As-Sudais, Saad Al-Ghamadi, Ahmed Al-Ajamy, Maher Al-Muaiqly, and Yasser Ad-Dussary. You can switch between them in audio settings.
How do I change the theme?
Open Settings from your profile menu and choose between Rosewater and Emerald Garden. Each theme adapts automatically to light and dark mode.
Are bookmarks and progress synced across devices?
Yes. AlBayan uses Apple’s iCloud (CloudKit) to sync your bookmarks, reading progress, streaks, and earned badges across your iPhone and iPad. Sync happens automatically when you are signed into iCloud on each device. Your data goes to your private iCloud account — we do not have access to it. To turn off sync, go to iOS Settings › [Your Name] › iCloud › Apps Using iCloud › AlBayan and disable it; with iCloud off, your data stays local-only on each device.
I have a question about Islamic content or scholarship.
For questions of religious ruling (fatwa) or detailed scholarly inquiry, please consult a qualified scholar in your community. AlBayan presents Sunni tafsir for study and reflection but is not a substitute for a learned teacher.
See our Privacy Policy for a full description of our data practices.
